Recently I have received a few questions here and there about promotion within Cross Street AND when a child from Grace Acres (our Infant and Pre-School Ministry) should make the transition. Never fear, we do have a system in place, and I hope to answer some of your questions through this brief explanation.
First off, let me say, Cross Street is 100% an elementary age ministry. Our curriculum within Small Groups and what the kids experience every Sunday in Large Group (Worship and Story time) are specifically designed to meet the needs of kids within the grades of Kindergarten thru 5th. Once a child is already in CROSS STREET he or she will simply be promoted on a designated Promotion Sunday in the month of August. I, Adam Bayne, Director of Cross Street, will always notify parents as to which Sunday that will be in August.
Now, as for kids in Grace Acres, when August rolls around and your child is scheduled to begin Kindergarten that particular year that means it is time to be promoted. Katrina Watts, director of Grace Acres, will notify parents as to which Sunday in August will be PROMOTION SUNDAY. Until that point, kids in Grace Acres will need to remain there until instructed otherwise.
Katrina has also been working on a plan to make the transition as smooth as possible for Grace Acre Parents and Kids moving on to Cross Street. For example, we might have an observation day where parents and kids can be walked through what goes on in Cross Street. Really excited about that!
Well, I hope this answers some of your questions, but if anything about this process is confusing to you or if you have any suggestions on how to make Promotion Day even better please give me a call or shoot me an email.
THANKS,
Adam Bayne
