I started to attend Grace when Blaine was 3 years old. Grace Acres was a great place for him to be while I attended the service. I felt obligated to volunteer in his class at least once per month since they were watching him for me. After awhile I went to twice per month. I loved helping in the class and had no problem helping the teacher. By the end of the year they were looking for a teacher for the older fours and I didn’t think I would be a good teacher. I grew up in a Christian home and knew all the bible stories that I was taught as a child. Even knowing all I thought I knew, I didn’t KNOW Jesus personally and have a personal relationship with Him. When they were looking for a teacher I was a new Christian and I didn’t feel that I was qualified to do the job. I continued to think about it and waited until the last minute then reluctantly said I would do it. Looking back now I am so glad I accepted the challenge. I truly enjoy seeing every child each Sunday I teach. I believe that I get more out of it than the kids do. I’m grateful to all the parents who drop their children off so I can spend some time getting to know them and teach them about Jesus. Once they go to Cross Street I love getting to see them in the hallway and checking on how school is going for them. Just today I was able to watch 2 of my former older fours get baptized. Now that’s amazing. Every time I get a new bunch to teach, I love it when they are apprehensive at first but once they get to know me they don’t mind coming in for class. I do not see an end to wanting to teach them and enjoy the time I have with them.
