Global Missions

At Grace Community Church, serving is a major part of our strategy to Gather, Commit and Serve. As you might have noticed on our Volunteer Page, there are many opportunities for you to use your gifts to serve people on Sunday mornings. Hundreds of people join forces each weekend to demonstrate the love of Jesus at these gatherings. But volunteering on Sundays is not the only way to serve. God has given us the opportunity to make a difference in our city and around the world. This is what we call missions.

Guatemala

GCC continues to develop and strengthen its relationship with an orphanage in Guatemala. This home for girls currently houses 48 young women between the ages of one and seventeen. The orphanage is currently functioning on $100 a month. Those who lead the home have a goal of being self-sufficient. Grace Community is doing its best to help them achieve that goal.

To this point, our missions teams to Guatemala have constructed a chicken coop, expanded a garden, built a foundation for a sewing center and bakery, and invested in the lives of the residents. All of this has been done in an effort to provide life skills to the amazing young girls who live in this home as well as demonstrate to them just how valuable they are to God.

Future trips to Guatemala are being planned. We hope you will consider being a part of one of the teams.

Costa Rica

GCC has been blessed to support the missionary efforts of Jason and Kerby Harpst. The Harpsts have been a part of the Grace family for a few years. Not long ago, they sensed God leading them to leave their family, friends, and belongings and begin a new life in Costa Rica.

Jason and Kerby work with the Abraham Project, which has been in existence since 1998. They live about 35 minutes southeast of the capital city of San Jose. Grace is committed to assisting this ministry in any way it can.

Volunteer teams that travel to Costa Rica can expect to assist in children’s homes, teach the English language to community residents, share the hope that is found in Jesus, and partner with local churches.

If you wish to contact Jason and Kerby to encourage them or to ask specific questions about their work, send an email to todalagentecr@gmail.com or call 810-252-8934.
